The Toronto Rock inched themselves one step closer to a Champion’s Cup final berth by defeating the Rochester Knighthawks 10-8 at the Air Canada Center in front of 10,228 fans. Colin Doyle and Garrett Billings scored six points each (3G, 3A) to lead the Rock. With the win, the Rock will head to Buffalo to take on the Bandits at the HSBC Arena next weekend.
The Calgary Roughnecks (12-5) move onto the next round of the NLL playoffs after downing the visiting Colorado Mammoth (5-12) 10-6 Saturday night in front of 10,092 fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The game could be labeled as coming down to one save. The Mammoth had control after a pair of almost identical John Grant Jr. power play goals in the fourth quarter cut Calgary’s lead down to two.
